Dear Mayor Walsh,

Traffic fatalities are rising. We desperately need to invest in the infrastructure of Boston’s streets and sidewalks — and we need your leadership to show it is the mandate of city government to prioritize safer options for people who walk, bike, take transit, and drive.

In signing this petition I am asking you to recommit to Vision Zero by:

  • Publicly mourning with the family and friends of traffic crash victims at the World Day of Remembrance Vigil on November 20th, and calling for swifter action to prevent these tragedies in Boston in the future.

  • Sharing what actions the City will take before the end of the year to achieve the goals it set forth in the Vision Zero Action Plan released in December of 2015.

  • Committing more financial resources to hire additional staff and support capital projects, ensuring that the Transportation Department has the capacity it needs to reach these important goals.
