Nassau Street, Boston
On April 23rd, 2016, a toddler, 2 year old Isabella Wu, was hit and killed by a private ambulance outside Tufts Medical Center on Nassau Street, a street that separates the medical center and a residential building.
The Vision Zero Task Force visited the crash location on May 3rd to make recommendations for any short and long term changes to the area that could improve safety.
Bennington & Saratoga, East Boston
On April 16th, 2016, Mr. Kim, owner of a local restaurant, was hit and killed while attempting to cross Bennington. Witnesses told police that Mr. Kim was crossing the street in a crosswalk against the signal. The Vision Zero Task Force visited the crash location on April 20th to make recommendations for any short and long term changes to the area that could improve safety.

On April 4th, 2016, an unidentified man was hit and seriously injured by a person driving an Uber. Police have reported the victim stepped out from between parked cars and was struck. On February 18th, 2016, a mother and her 5 month old daughter were hit while trying to cross Humboldt Ave to a waiting vehicle, with the infant suffering fatal injuries. (While initial reports put it close to the bus stop, the crash occurred a bit further up the hill near Elbert Street). The Vision Zero Task Force visited the crash location on March 1st to make recommendations for any short and long term changes to the area that could improve safety.

Early February 1st, 2016, two people walking were hit in the intersection of Kneeland & Harrison Avenue in Chinatown: a 56-year-old man, Qi Lun Feng and a 48-year-old woman, Yue Yin Gong; the person driving, Xiao Ying Zhou, proceeded to drive onto 93 South while dragging Gong three miles from Chinatown to Dorchester. Zhou has been arrested; Yue Yin Gong was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Vision Zero Task Force visited the crash location on February 19th to make recommendations for any short and long term changes to the area that could improve safety.
Old Colony & Gavin Way, South Boston
On January 26th, 2016, an unidentified 66 year old man was hit and killed while attempting to cross the southbound travel lanes on Old Colony Avenue. Old Colony Avenue is a DCR roadway under state jurisdiction. It is the hope of the Massachusetts Vision Zero Coalition that DCR will establish a process for responding to serious or fatal crashes. On January 13th, 2016, Queshon Ivy, age 43, was hit and killed while attempting to cross Washington Street to begin his first day of work at a construction site. A witness said the “school van did not even give the ‘guy a chance’ to slow down and just hit the guy.” The van driver, Melissa L. Benedict, 34, faces charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. The Vision Zero Task Force visited the crash location on January 25th to make recommendations for any short and long term changes to the area that could improve safety.

A man was struck and killed by a plow truck on Sunday, January 24th, 2016 at 11:18AM by the corner of Dorchester Ave and Harbor View St. The Vision Zero Task Force visited the crash location on February 5th to make recommendations for any short and long term changes to the area that could improve safety. While the victim was not identified in articles about the crash, a mass card for Nicholas Tammaro, 66, was left at a memorial on the corner.

On January 12th, 2016, 78 year old Roslindale resident Silvia Acosta was hit and killed while crossing Washington Street. Witnesses told police that Acosta was crossing the street in a crosswalk when she was struck by a person driving a vehicle that then fled the area. The Vision Zero Task Force visited the crash location on January 22nd to make recommendations for any short and long term changes to the area that could improve safety.
